Metamorphasis

As I sit and contemplate a blog topic for today, my thoughts are briefly interrupted by the calming echo of the wind chimes on the patio. My thoughts temporarily shift to the weather, as it is evident that the winds are picking up outside. Those of you who know me well are familiar with the fact that I am a weather enthusiast, with a fascination surrounding severe weather. What many may not know is that I am also certified as a Severe Storm Spotter. What is a Severe Storm Spotter you may ask?

A Spotter helps keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service. In Texas, we are called SKYWARN spotters. Although SKYWARN spotters provide essential information for all types of weather hazards, the main responsibility of a SKYWARN spotter is to identify and describe severe local storms. We are the eyes, and ears of the National Weather Service. When we witness conditions that fit the criteria of severe weather in a particular area, we communicate this with the National Weather Service so that warnings can be issued, and lives can be saved. In the average year, 10,000 severe thunderstorms, 5,000 floods and more than 1,000 tornadoes occur across the United States.

The winds outside are the precursor for a cold front that will be arriving on Monday, or should I say “cool” front as the temperatures will only fall into the mid to upper 40′s a few nights while remaining a nice and warm 72-77 during the days. The transitioning weather is a prime indicator that Spring is just around the corner. As the weather shifts into a more Spring pattern, the landscape will begin to blossom before our very eyes. A Metamorphosis is about to occur as the warmer temperatures, along with longer days will lead to a renewal of life as we know it. I look forward to this time of year because it symbolizes rejuvenation- flowering plants, blossoming trees, and green grass will all paint the landscape, while the sun warms the earth’s surface.

Massage Therapy can serve as the catalyst that renews your body, mind, and spirit. Just as seasons transition one to another, you too are able to transition into a new season of your life and leave behind the body aches, the anxiety, the tension, and the stress. Allow massage to be your “winds of change”. Take some time out of your busy schedule and allow an experienced massage therapist to awaken your spirit within. As you lay on the table, allow your breath to release the tension you have been holding within as you exhale. As you inhale, imagine breathing in new life into your body. Feel your muscles awaken as the hands of your therapist knead your body. With each massage stroke you will feel more and more alive. Just as the plants, and trees awaken from a deep freeze of a long and arduous winter, your mind, body, and spirit will awaken as the result of a therapeutic massage. Take some time to reflect and do what is best for your body. I look forward to assisting you on your journey to self renewal.

Namaste,
